Antique Handkerchiefs exhibit closes
The Fred and Addie Drummond Home will display a collection of antique handkerchiefs from August 1 through 31. The special collection of dainty squares of fabric will feature a variety of cheerful designs. In the late 1800s, women often carried handkerchiefs to dab their nose and dry a tear. From Sunday, September 1 through Sunday, September 29, family heirlooms belonging to the Fred and Addie Drummond family will be displayed at the Victorian-style home they built in 1905. A workshop on Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hunter’s Home will teach visitors how someone would begin as a carpenter in the 1850s. Skilled carpenters, both free and enslaved individuals, originally built Hunter’s Home. They constructed the house entirely by hand, and their work remains 175 years later.
