Research Requests
Please note: At this time, we are unable to process payments for international customers online. If you live outside of the US and would like to submit an order, please contact the departments listed below directly.
Research orders are subject to review by the OHS Research Division staff. We reserve the right to revise orders due to preservation concerns or time constraints. The patron will be notified of any changes before an order is filled.
Processing and Shipping Fees
All orders including photographs, maps, audio, film, or manuscript materials are subject to a minimum $5 processing fee to cover the cost of postage and/or digital download services and equipment. This fee does not apply to genealogy research requests, express, or packet orders.
To expedite your order, items from the research department will be shipped and billed separately from other items. Memberships, books, gifts, and other Museum Store merchandise will be billed immediately.
Additional Shipping Fees
In most cases, the $5 processing fee will cover the cost of postage for the items to be mailed.
Refunds
Research fees, express order, and packet fees are nonrefundable.
Copyright and Reproduction
The Oklahoma Historical Society Research Division's sale of a reproduction does not imply an authorization to publish it. It is the patron's responsibility to obtain permission to publish texts and facsimiles from the owners of the copyright. Items purchased for commercial use are subject to use fees.
Notice Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of the specified conditions is that the photocopy for reproduction is not used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research. If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of this order would involve violation of the copyright law. The Oklahoma Historical Society assumes no responsibility for resolving questions concerning copyright.
