Oklahoma Historical Society to Host Annual Gala “A Night in the Life: The Swinging Sixties”
OKLAHOMA CITY — Dress in your favorite bell bottoms and tie-dye shirt or miniskirt and go-go boots to join the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) for its third annual fundraising gala, “A Night in the Life: The Swinging Sixties.” This immersive evening in the 1960s will take place on Friday, October 18, 2019, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center, located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive in Oklahoma City.
This year’s event will take guests back to the days of the groovy 1960s, featuring Oklahoma City radio icon Ronnie Kaye as the emcee and DJ. There also will be live music, including Jimmy Dale Richardson performing with the Oklahoma Showgirls. In addition, the Savoy Trio will channel Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and the rest of the Rat Pack in the Continental Club, a mod lounge area. The evening will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks from the time period, vignettes, a photo booth, a dress-up station and some far out fun! Guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets during the event for a chance to win prizes from sponsors including Mariposa Aesthetics and Laser Center, YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, Ancestry.com, Dillard’s Penn Square, Senses Salon, Full Circle Obedience, Science Museum Oklahoma, Cabin Boys Brewery, Elk Valley Brewery and Vanessa House Beer Company.
Tickets are now on sale for “A Night in the Life: The Swinging Sixties.” General admission is $65 for OHS members and $75 for non-members. Tables are available starting at $500. General entry tickets include heavy hors d’oeuvres; an open bar with beer, wine and 1960s specialty drinks; and all the evening’s activities. “A Night in the Life” is an annual fundraising event for the Oklahoma Historical Society. The proceeds from this event will help to fund OHS exhibits, educational programming and collections care.
