Special Exhibit on U.S. Representative Dick T. Morgan at Cherokee Strip Museum in Perry
PERRY, Okla. — Beginning in October, the Cherokee Strip Museum in Perry will host a special exhibit on U.S. Representative Dick T. Morgan, who served as a congressman from Oklahoma from 1909 until his death in 1920. The exhibit will run through the end of December 2019.
Dick T. Morgan was born in Indiana in 1853 and served in the Indiana state legislature before moving to Guthrie in 1889. He arrived in Perry in 1893, then relocated to El Reno in 1901 and Woodward in 1904. While in the U.S. House of Representatives, he served on several committees and sponsored legislation in 1916 that created the federal land bank system.
The Cherokee Strip Museum is located at 2617 W. Fir St. in Perry. Admission to the museum is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students, and children five and under are free. For more information about activities and exhibits at the museum, please call 580-336-2405.
The Cherokee Strip Museum is an affiliate of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
