“Halloween Night at the Museum” Returns at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum
CLAREMORE, Okla. — The Will Rogers Memorial Museum will host “Halloween Night at the Museum” on Thursday, October 31, from 6–8 p.m. This event combines trick-or-treating with an opportunity for children and their parents and grandparents to visit the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Area businesses and individuals will share treats at locations throughout the museum galleries—from the front door to the children’s museum. “Halloween Night at the Museum” is free and open to all ages.
This event has attracted hundreds of costumed characters into the museum on Halloween night since the first event in 2014. The family-friendly environment provides a safe place for families to enjoy the holiday and has brought many people to the museum for the first time.
There will be a continuous showing of 1922’s “The Headless Horseman” starring Will Rogers, adapted from Washington Irving’s “Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” The silent movie is the familiar story of Ichabod Crane (played by Rogers), a Yankee schoolmaster competing for the hand of the daughter of a wealthy family. Another suitor, disguised as the headless horseman, lures Ichabod to a lonely bridge and frightens him away.

The Will Rogers Memorial Museum and the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch are divisions of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
