Oklahoma History Center Joins Smithsonian Magazine’s 16th Annual Museum Day
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma History Center will open its doors free of charge to all Museum Day ticketholders on Saturday April 4, 2020, as part of Smithsonian magazine’s 16th annual Museum Day, in which participating museums emulate the free admission policy at the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based museums.
The theme of this year’s Museum Day is Earth Optimism, focusing on social environmental justice and how the environment affects our lives daily. Museum Day represents a nationwide commitment to access, equity and inclusion. Over 250,000 people downloaded tickets for last year’s event, and Museum Day 2020 is expected to attract more museumgoers than ever before.
Museum Day tickets will be available for download at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday
starting February 27, 2020. Visitors who present a Museum Day ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues on Saturday, April 4, 2020. One ticket is permitted per email address. A list of participating museums, which will be continually updated as more museums register, can be found at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2020/oklahoma-history-center/tickets.
The Oklahoma History Center is located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive in Oklahoma City and is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Oklahoma History Center is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, National Archives and is an accredited member of the American Alliance of Museums. The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people.
