Christmas Open House at Drummond Home Scheduled for December 12
HOMINY, Okla. — The annual Christmas Open House at the historic Fred Drummond Home will take place on Saturday, December 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. Every room of the house will be decorated for the Christmas season, and safe, socially distanced house tours will be available. At the end of the tour, guests will be given a Christmas treat to take home.
Author Rosanne McKee will be holding a book signing during the festivities. McKee, a former writer for the Pawhuska Journal-Capital and the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise, will be reading passages from her novel “Oklahoma Roses: A Tourist’s Companion Romance.” Chuck “Pa-Pa” Drummond, the father-in-law of Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond, is expected to visit during the festivities to tell stories about the Drummond family and its history in the area. Santa Claus will also make a socially distanced appearance, giving away Christmas treats from the parlor through a candy chute to all good girls and boys! This is the perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season with family and friends.
Occupancy is currently limited to no more than nine in the home at one time. Visitors will be admitted in the order of arrival, and are encouraged to practice social distancing by staying six feet away from staff and visitors of other groups. The Oklahoma Historical Society requires face masks in all public areas of its museums, sites and affiliates, including the Fred Drummond Home.
Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors ages 62 and older, $4 for students and free for children five and under. As always, OHS members receive free admission, and all active military and veterans with ID receive free admission. Regular hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information please call 918-885-2374. The Fred Drummond Home is located at 305 N. The Fred Drummond Home is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society. The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people.
