Landmark for all Generations Inc. Awarded Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Historical Society is proud to announce that Landmark for all Generations Inc. has been awarded a grant through the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program.
"The historic Okmulgee Black Hospital has undergone amazing progress in recent years thanks to the efforts of Landmark for All Generations," said Sen. Roger Thompson, Okemah. "These funds will help improve awareness of this historic building and the important history that it represents."
Landmark for all Generations Inc. has been awarded $4,000 that will fund elements of a project aimed at increasing the marketing and visibility of the historic Okmulgee Black Hospital. Funding will include logo and style guide creation, video production and the development of a website to disseminate content that will help the public better understand this unique historic site.
"Landmark for all Generations Inc. would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program for being chosen as a recipient for the 2021 OHP grant," said Julie Roberds, grant writer. "We look forward to sharing the story of Oklahoma's first Black hospital and gaining support for its renovation."
A total of just over $460,000 in grant funds will be distributed, with projects ranging from collections care and exhibit development to strategic planning and educational programming. "This is only the second year for this grant program. As organizations wrap up their grant projects from last year and as we see the quality of the applications that came in for this grant cycle, it is clear that there is a strong need for this type of grant program," said Nicole Harvey, OHS grants administrator.
