Oklahoma History Center to Host Class on Intro to Botanical Embroidery
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma embroidery artist Lacey Plana will lead an introductory class to botanical embroidery on Saturday, January 28, from 1–4 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center (OHC).
Plana will teach guests how to stitch a vibrant Oklahoma-inspired bouquet of roses, firewheels and yarrows.
Attendees will learn embroidery basics, including how to create a variety of stitches and transfer their favorite designs onto fabric. Plana will demonstrate several stitching techniques, including the back stitch, French knot, woven wheel stitch, seed stitch and single/detached chain stitch.
Guests will receive a pattern of the design and a stitch guide. Participants will get to take home their botanical embroidery creations.
The cost is $45 for Oklahoma Historical Society members and $55 for non-members. It includes all materials. Registration is required. The class is limited to 15 participants. It is designed for anyone over the age of 12. The class will take place in the Clark and Kay Musser Learning Lab on the first floor of the Oklahoma History Center.
