Oklahoma Historical Society’s Research Center Joins Facebook
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Historical Society’s John and Eleanor Kirkpatrick Research Center, located at the Oklahoma History Center, now has its own Facebook page.
The page will provide a unique blend of historic Oklahoma photographs, documents, American Indian records, newspapers, publications, film and video, genealogy, oral histories and maps. It will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the OHS Research Center to show how rare and delicate historic items are digitized and prepared to be shared on OHS’ online platforms.
The page will also include information about the free resources available to the public in the OHS Research Center. These include free access to family history subscription sites like Ancestry.com, Newspapers.com and Fold3. You can also access statewide yearbook, phone and city directory collections.
The OHS Research Center can be found at facebook.com/ohsresearchcenter.
The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. Founded in 1893 by members of the Territorial Press Association, the OHS maintains museums, historic sites and affiliates across the state. Through its research archives, exhibits, educational programs and publications the OHS chronicles the rich history of Oklahoma. For more information about the OHS, please visit www.okhistory.org.
