February Kilgen Theatre Organ Performance to Feature Tedde Gibson and Silent Film “Captain January”
OKLAHOMA CITY — On Monday, February 19, from 7-8:30 p.m., a Kilgen Theatre Organ performance will be held in the Devon Great Hall at the Oklahoma History Center. Organist Tedde Gibson will accompany the silent film “Captain January” (1924).
Gibson is one of a few musicians able to play classical and theatre pipe organ as well as jazz and gospel on the Hammond and piano. He integrates these styles into his theatre and classical pipe organ playing – the ultimate vehicle to showcase his talents.
This Kilgen Theatre Organ performance will feature “Captain January,” a 1924 American silent film directed by Edward F. Cline and featuring the child star Baby Peggy, a.k.a. Diana Serra Cary, who was one of the last actresses with a substantial career in silent films.
Tickets are available online. They are $10 for Oklahoma Historical Society members and $20 for the general public.
