Midwest City High School Museum, Inc. Awarded Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) is proud to announce that the Midwest City High School Museum, Inc. has been awarded a grant through the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program.

Midwest City High School Museum, Inc. received $20,000 for a project that will acquire two double-sided interactive touchscreen kiosks and four informational banners for the Midwest City History Center, enhancing visitor engagement and promoting the Center’s mission.

“As a retired educator and honored Senator of Senate District 42, I am delighted to learn of the grant awarded to the Midwest City High School Museum, Inc. through the esteemed Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program,” said Sen. Brenda Stanley, Midwest City. “This significant allocation not only enriches the visitor experience but also underscores the imperative of safeguarding our local heritage for generations to come. With a career devoted to education, I take immense pride in knowing that this grant will enhance both our school and community. The dedication of the Midwest City High School Museum, Inc. to preserving our local history is commendable, and I am proud to support their noble endeavors. I extend my sincere appreciation to the Oklahoma Historical Society for their unwavering commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of Oklahoma’s diverse history and culture.”

“The addition of these interactive touchscreen kiosks will certainly enhance the Midwest City High School History Center by allowing visitors to search historical photographs and information about MCHS and its alumni at their own pace,” said Bob Osmond, director/chairman of the Board. “The banners will provide visitors with information about former student-athletes who achieved championships at MCHS.”

The OHS will distribute over $520,000 in grant funds, with projects ranging from collections care and strategic planning to exhibit development and educational programming.

“Through the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program, we’re not just funding projects; we’re investing in the preservation of Oklahoma’s rich and dynamic history,” said Nicole Harvey, director of strategic initiatives for the Oklahoma Historical Society. “These grants empower communities across the state to uphold their heritage for future generations, ensuring that the stories of Oklahoma continue to inspire and educate for years to come.”
