Fort Gibson Historic Site to Host Halloween Event

FORT GIBSON, Okla. — Fort Gibson Historic Site will host “Haunting the Fort” on Thursday, October 31, from 6-8 p.m. The fort will be transformed into an atmosphere appropriate to the season with spooky music, moonlit grounds and trick-or-treating in the historic fort.

Those brave enough to venture to the site will see several rooms in the log fort stockade decorated by local businesses. There will be plenty of candy for trick-or-treating! This is one of the few after-hours, after-dark programs at Fort Gibson, and the goal is to re-establish it as a Fort Gibson community tradition.

The family-friendly event is free to attend, but donations are always accepted. Follow the Fort Gibson Historic Site Facebook page for additional information leading up to the event. Parking will be available between the palisade walls and the railroad tracks. Additional parking will be available by the water treatment center and at Clinkenbeard Park. The log palisade will be the only part of the site open on the night of the event. The Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce is providing support for the event.

For more information, please call 918-478-4088. The Fort Gibson Historic Site is located at 907 N. Garrison Ave. in Fort Gibson.
