Oklahoma Sports Heroes to be Highlighted in New Exhibit at Oklahoma History Center Museum
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma History Center Museum (OHCM) will open a new exhibit titled “Oklahoma Sports Heroes” on Saturday, December 21.
The exhibit will highlight some legendary Oklahoma athletes who competed in various sports and connect them to the historical times and events in which they both competed and lived. Some of the heroes are well-known, such as Jim Thorpe and Mickey Mantle. Others, like Kaleo Kanahele Maclay and Noah Zuhdi, have succeeded without significant attention. Museum visitors will see some old favorites and hopefully add some new ones.
The new exhibit will also feature items recently added to the Oklahoma Historical Society’s collections thanks to a donation from Richard Hendricks and the Oklahoma Sports Heritage Museum in Guthrie.
The OHCM is indebted to the Oklahoma sports history community for their support in developing this new exhibit.
The Oklahoma History Center is located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr. in Oklahoma City. It is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Please call 405-522-0765 or visit www.okhistory.org/historycenter for admission costs and group rates.
