State Historic Preservation Office Webinar to Focus on New 10-Year State Plan

OKLAHOMA CITY — The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will hold a free webinar at noon on Tuesday, January 21, to discuss the new 10-year state plan, which was released on January 1. SHPO staff will review the basics of the new state plan and what you can do to support preservation in your community.

Development of the 10-year state plan started in July 2023 when the State Historic Preservation Office released its first questionnaire addressing the update of the state plan — a process that the National Park Service requires. A second questionnaire was issued in person in mid-September 2023 and online in October 2023 to delve further into certain responses from the first questionnaire. All answers, along with comments to a specific questionnaire for our tribal partners, were used to develop the first draft of the new 10-year state plan. The first draft was available for public comment through March 29, 2024. After incorporating comments from the public and National Park Service staff, the new state plan was released on January 1, 2025. The SHPO would like to thank everyone for their input.

Register online for the free webinar. For more information, contact Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan at 405-522-4484 or lynda.ozan@history.ok.gov.
