Learn About Stained Glass Preservation in Upcoming State Historic Preservation Office Webinar
OKLAHOMA CITY — Stained glass preservation will be the topic of a free webinar hosted by the State Historic Preservation Office on Thursday, February 27 at 2 p.m. The featured speaker is Megan McElfresh, executive director of the Stained Glass Association of America. This webinar is part of the SHPO’s 2025 speaker series, Saving the Sacred.
McElfresh is a lifelong stained glass artisan who uses her research to focus on how the built environment, accessible artwork and preservation policies impact community revitalization and economic development. This webinar will explore the challenges of preserving stained glass across America’s sacred spaces. McElfresh will debunk myths of stained glass as a “lost art” and highlight its experimental history, ongoing struggles and possible solutions. The critical need for collaboration among tradespeople, preservationists, researchers and community stakeholders is central to the discussion.
Register online for the webinar. For more information, contact Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan at 405-522-4484 or lynda.ozan@history.ok.gov.
