Environmental Justice to be Highlighted in Program at Oklahoma History Center

OKLAHOMA CITY — Join the Oklahoma History Center Museum and OKC Beautiful for an exciting and informative free program that dives into the powerful concepts of environmental justice and explores how our environment directly impacts our health and well-being. This event will be held on Friday, February 28, from 1-4 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center.

The event will start with Abby Randall and Dr. Carrie Leslie, who will lead an engaging lecture called “Environmental Justice 101.” This will lay the groundwork for understanding this issue. Dr. Matthew Pearce, state historian for the Oklahoma Historical Society, will take the audience on a compelling journey through the history of environmental injustices that have shaped Oklahoma City. The program will conclude with a dynamic panel discussion with community leaders working on the front lines to advance environmental justice in the OKC metro. Moderator Amy Warne will guide the panel conversation with Lauren Nixon from OKC Beautiful; Denyvetta Davis with the JFK Neighborhood and NE OKC Neighborhood Coalition; and Travis Andrews with Native Farming Solutions and Skyline.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join the conversation shaping our future! The free event will be held in the Musser Learning Lab inside the John and Eleanor Kirkpatrick Research Center at the Oklahoma History Center. It is limited to 50 people, and guests are encouraged to register online through the Museum Store to secure their spot.

The Oklahoma History Center Museum is located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr. in Oklahoma City. It is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Please call 405-522-0765 or visit www.okhistory.org/historycenter for admission costs and group rates.
