Oklahoma History Center to Host Alexander Hamilton
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma History Center is proud to present Eben Kuhns as Alexander Hamilton in a single performance on Thursday, February 8, at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the public on Thursday, January 25, and may be purchased by calling 405-522-0765 or be purchased at the door. Prices are $10 for members of the Oklahoma Historical Society and $20 for the general public. Since there will only be one performance, it is advisable to purchase tickets early. Also, since seating is limited, early arrival is recommended. The doors will be open to the public at 6:30 p.m.
More than just the face on the ten dollar bill, he was chief of staff to George Washington, an astute lawyer and coauthor of the Federalist Papers. Hamilton was a self-made man who identified as a soldier and preferred to be addressed by his military rank. Born in the Caribbean, Hamilton journeyed to New York where he became a soldier in the American Revolution, eventually gaining the trust and respect of George Washington himself. Hamilton was instrumental in the creation of the Coast Guard, active in the New York Society for the Manumission of Slavery, and established the financial system for the new country.
Eben Kuhns is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. In addition to seasonal appearances at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, he may be found at George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate portraying George Washington "Washy" Parke Custis and John Anderson, distillery manager. The American Historical Theatre is delighted to introduce him to new audiences as Alexander Hamilton.
This event is cosponsored by the Education Department of George Washington’s Mount Vernon. The Alexander Hamilton presentation is one of many programs offered to educators and students of all ages.
