Dutch Oven Cooking Workshop at Heritage Center
ENID, Okla. — The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (CSRHC) will host a Dutch oven cooking workshop on Saturday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The hands-on workshop will be taught by outdoor educator Luann Sewell Waters. Waters, a long-time educator and certified outdoorswoman, will give instruction on the care and keeping of Dutch ovens as well as guide class participants in recipe selection.
The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. with a presentation in the Humphrey Heritage Village Church, where Waters will provide information on how to select and care for a Dutch oven, history and recipes related to cooking outdoors. After the presentation, the class will be divided into cooking teams and each team will be given a recipe to prepare in the ovens. The class will enjoy a meal together and then learn about the fine details of cleaning and storing a Dutch oven. All supplies are included for the class.
“The class is designed to teach participants how to cook in a Dutch oven in their own backyard. It is a quick, fun and well-planned class led by an experienced instructor who truly enjoys teaching,” said CSRHC Director Robbin Davis. “This is a new class for us and Luann is a new instructor to the Heritage Center. She is such a great teacher, and I know that anyone who attends this class will have a good time and learn a lot.”
Cost for the class is $25 and those interested must make a reservation to attend. Class size is limited to 30. Participants must be at least 12 years old and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. To make a reservation, contact the CSRHC during regular business hours.
