Hunter’s Home Annual Education Day
Park Hill, Okla. — It is time once again for educators and students to join staff at Hunter’s Home for its eighth annual Education Day. On Friday, May 4, the site will close to the public and invite public, private and homeschool students grades K–12 to visit for a fun day of learning at Oklahoma’s only remaining antebellum plantation mansion and living history farm. Living historians from all over the region will gather to demonstrate a large variety of 19th-century activities, crafts and skills.
Groups will be able to tour the home to get a look at what life was like in the 1800s. While here, students will learn about music, cooking, livestock and many important skills and trades that made life easier for a farmer in the 19th century. Many activities are hands on to help make the farm ready for the growing season.
The cost is $4 per student, and teachers and bus drivers are free. One chaperone per every 10 students is also admitted free. Classes can choose the 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. session or the 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. session. To register a class, contact Hunter’s Home by phone at 918-456-2751, or by email at murrellhome@okhistory.org.
