Fort Towson to Host Mexican-American War Encampment
FORT TOWSON, Okla. — Fort Towson Historic Site will be the setting for “A Long Walk in the Sun: Mexican-American War Days,” a Mexican-American War encampment Sept. 28–30, 2018.
Camps featuring US dragoons, infantry and artillery, as well as Mexican cavalry and infantry, will be open to the public on Friday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. with various demonstrations throughout the day. There will be a skirmish at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, and a tactical skirmish at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. These reenactments are also open to the public.

Fort Towson Historic Site is located north of US 70 near Fort Towson. Hours of operation are Tuesday–Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fort Towson Historic Site is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
