Legacy Keepers R Us to Present "Where the Legends Went" at Honey Springs Battlefield and Visitor Center
CHECOTAH, Okla. — Honey Springs Battlefield and Visitor Center is excited to announce a special multimedia program to be held at the Honey Springs Battlefield and Visitor Center on Saturday, February 16, at 1 p.m. Legacy Keepers R Us founder, ShIronbutterfly Ray and Oscar Ray Sr. will present "Where the Legends Went.” The presentation will highlight the organization’s ongoing efforts to keep history alive, honor legends and recruit potential members. The program is free to the public, but donations are appreciated.
The program will honor legendary figures in Oklahoma’s history through a discussion of Oklahoma’s forgotten cemeteries and lost photo albums. There also will be a showing of a short documentary entitled “Where the Legends Went," which will reveal why so much of America's history has remained unknown for so long. The presenters will share the efforts being made by Legacy Keepers, including sharing the legacy of lawman Bass Reeves through reenacting, the preservation of historic structures, and the creation of historical markers to tell the stories of Oklahoma’s heritage to future generations.

The Visitor Center is located on a hill in close proximity to the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame in Rentiesville. Honey Springs Battlefield and Visitor Center is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society. The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people.
