Introduction to Section 106 and Determinations of Eligibility for the National Register workshop, Oklahoma History Center

The Oklahoma Historical Society State Historic Preservation Office May workshop series will be held May 9–11, 2018, at the Oklahoma History Center. The May 9 workshops will be in the OERB Classrooms; the May 10–11 workshops will be in the Musser Learning Lab, located inside the Research Center.

Introduction to Section 106 and Determinations of Eligibility for the National Register
The workshop provides the basics about the review process in Oklahoma under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Topics include who are the participants in the process and what are their roles, identification and evaluation of historic properties, determination of effects on historic properties, and resolution of adverse effects. Step-by-step instructions will be provided for requesting the State Historic Preservation Office’s comments on federal undertakings and for completing the Historic Preservation Resource Identification Form for standing structures.

The workshops are free and open to the public, but we ask that you preregister. Space is limited and will be available on a first-come basis. To register, contact Jesse Matthews at 405-521-6249 or jmatthews@okhistory.org.

Design professionals who attend the workshops will qualify for HSW hours needed to fulfill requirements of the State of Oklahoma’s Board of Governors of Licensed Architects, Landscape Architects, and Interior Designers. A certificate of attendance will be emailed to participants after the workshops. Self-report your attendance to the board.
