Hands-On Historic Skills: Choctaw Nation’s “Growing Hope” Program

On Saturday, July 22, from 1-3 p.m., the Fort Towson Historic Site will highlight the Choctaw Nation’s “Growing Hope” program. The presentation will focus on heirloom seeds the Choctaw people brought with them on the Trail of Tears when they were forcibly removed to the state. This event is part of the monthly “Hands-On Historic Skills” educational class. The program is free with paid admission.
The featured presenter is Jacqueline Putman (Choctaw), program coordinator for “Growing Hope” and manager for the gardens in Tuskahoma, Wheelock Academy in Millerton, and the Choctaw Cultural Center in Durant.
