Visit The Wall That Heals traveling exhibition and mobile Education Center at the Oklahoma History Center November 8–12, 2017. This exhibit features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. The Wall That Heals lists the names of more than 58,000 service members who fell in the Vietnam War. The names are arranged chronologically by date of casualty, so that those who died together may be forever linked.
The Wall That Heals will arrive at the Oklahoma History Center on Wednesday, November 8, at 11 am escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders and Oklahoma Highway Patrol. A number of Oklahoma City veterans groups will welcome it to the Oklahoma History Center. The Oklahoma City Fire Department will provide two hook and ladder trucks that will have a 50-foot American flag suspended between them under which the caravan will proceed. The Wall That Heals will be constructed that day. It will be open to the public 24 hours a day beginning 7 pm on Wednesday, November 8, through Sunday, November 12, at 12 pm.
On Thursday, November 9, at 11 am there will be a formal opening ceremony. The 145th Oklahoma National Guard Band will provide music for the event, and Rear Admiral Greg Slavonic (USN Ret.), chief of staff for Senator James Lankford, will be the featured speaker. The event is free and open to the public.
