The University of Central Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Historical Society will present this four-week class. This course introduces students to the fundamentals of preservation and conservation of significant works housed at cultural heritage institutions and personal collections.

Students will learn to assess and evaluate storage conditions, identify harmful environmental factors, perform basic preservation and reformatting procedures on paper-based items and multimedia materials, and respond and recover from disaster situations. At the end of the course, participants will feel more prepared and confident to handle and care for historical and significant items.

Classes will meet in the Clark and Kay Musser Learning Lab, located in the Research Center on the first floor of the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, Oklahoma City. Register online at go.uco.edu/outreachcourses-link. Registration is $100 per class. Courses are open to all students; there are no prerequisite requirements.
