Civil Rights Trail Grant Program presentation with Bridget Lewis

Bridget Lewis will give a presentation about the Civil Rights Trail Grant Program on Friday, January 24, at the Standing Bear Museum and Education Center in Ponca City. The presentation will begin at noon in the Education Room, and will provide guidance on eligible organizations and projects, how to apply for a grant, and the criteria used to evaluate grant proposals. Lewis is the OHS Civil Rights Trail Grant management specialist.

The Standing Bear Museum and Education Center is located at 601 Standing Bear Parkway in Ponca City. Attendees may RSVP to bridget.lewis@history.ok.gov.

The Oklahoma Civil Rights Trail Grant Program is a grants-in-aid program offered by the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS). Open to tribal, county, and municipal governments, as well as not-for-profit historical organizations located in Oklahoma and registered with the Oklahoma Secretary of State, this grants program offers funding ranging from $1,000 to $50,000.

The objectives of this program include connecting All-Black towns and locations significant to the Civil Rights Movement in Oklahoma, including many Native American sites of historical significance; stimulating tourism; fostering entrepreneurship; and promoting economic development within these communities.
