November 15, 2014

Event Navigation

Join the Pioneer Woman Museum as it hosts Iowa Nation tribal members Sandy Tharp-Thee and Curtis Washington to share the past, present and future of the bison and describe the Ioway herd. As part of the presentation, a children’s book titled “The Buffalo Song” that recounts the story of Walking Coyote, a man who helps save the bison from extinction, will be read. The presentation will also include hands-on items that were used in daily Native life as well as a bison hide to examine.

Sandy Tharp-Thee is the library director and Curtis Washington is the agricultural programs manager for the Iowa Nation. Both speakers will be available to answer questions during the presentation, which is suitable for all ages. The free presentation will be held in the education meeting room at the Pioneer Woman Museum on Saturday, November 15, 2014, and will begin at 11 a.m. Contact the Pioneer Woman Museum for more information at 580-765-6108 or piown@okhistory.org.
