History Alive! Eleanor Roosevelt

Thursday, October 3, the Oklahoma History Center (OHC) will welcome Susan Marie Frontczak, who will portray First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt in “What We Are Fighting For,” the OHC’s latest History Alive! living history presentation. This program is Frontczak’s interpretation of Mrs. Roosevelt’s views on World War II and the individual’s role in a world torn by war, hardship, and uncertainty.
The performance will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. There is no reserved seating, so early arrival is recommended. Tickets are $10 for Oklahoma Historical Society members and $20 for nonmembers. Tickets may be purchased by calling 405-522-0765.
Susan Marie Frontczak has performed a number of living history personae over the last 20 years, including Clara Barton, Mary Shelley, and Marie Curie. When asked to describe her purpose in developing various living history personae, Frontczak said, “Storytelling opens avenues for conveying a message, awakening the imagination and communicating thoughts and feelings that we otherwise have no way to express.” To date, she has performed in 42 of the United States, as well as Canada, Bermuda, New Zealand, and eight European countries. Frontczak divides the life of Eleanor Roosevelt into four “windows”: the Great Depression, World War II, her appearance at the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and a reflection across several decades.
