Teachers are invited to register for a professional development session focused on American Indian Boarding Schools. Educators can choose one of three sessions: February 27 at the Kiowa Tribe Red Wolf Community Center in Carnegie; March 7 at the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma headquarters in Ponca City; or March 27 with the Choctaw Nation at Fort Towson Historic Site in Fort Towson. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The morning will focus on content, while the afternoon will emphasize practical application. A possible $250 resource grant may be available to support classroom resources and lesson plans.
Funding is available to reimburse school districts for substitute teacher expenses.
