Clara Luper Freedom Fiesta Art Show and Film Screening

August 21, 2021, 12 p.m.9 p.m.

Event Navigation

On Saturday, August 21, the Clara Luper Legacy Committee will present a free art show and film screening of Best of Enemies at the Oklahoma History Center (OHC). These activities are part of the Clara Luper Freedom Fiesta, a series of events to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the beginning of the sit-in movement in Oklahoma City. Led by teacher and civil rights activist Clara Luper, the Oklahoma City sit-in movement broke down the barriers of segregation in public accommodations in the city and the state.

The art show will run from noon to 9 p.m. in the Devon Great Hall of the OHC. The art on display will be available for purchase. During the art show, a COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be on-site from noon to 4 p.m. There will be a short break from 5 to 6 p.m. for the building to close and reset for the film screening.

The short film A Long Road to Liberty, directed by Brian Beasley and produced by Bob Ross of the Inasmuch Foundation, will be screened in the OHC’s Chesapeake Event Center, followed by the film Best of Enemies, starring Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell.

The art show and film screening are free to the public. For more information about these events and other activities celebrating Clara Luper’s legacy, please visit www.claraluperlegacy.com
