“Common Men in the Military” living history program

On Friday, May 12, and Saturday, May 13, the Fort Gibson Historic Site will conduct a living history program from 10 a.m. to noon, and again from 1 to 3 p.m. all about the common men who served in the military at Fort Gibson. Guests will gain insight into the common men who made up the military. Farmers, blacksmiths, hunters, coopers, and even carpenters made up the ranks of those posted to the outpost. Learn about the reasons common men joined the Army and what clothing and equipment they would have used while serving at Fort Gibson.
This program is free with paid admission which can be purchased at the commissary located at 907 N Garrison Ave, or at the office located within the palisade grounds.
