Living History Experiences at the Sod House Museum *full*
November 1, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Event Navigation
On Friday, November 1, the Sod House Museum volunteers and staff will be teaching school children through a day of fun and educational demonstrations of living history experiences at the museum near Aline.
This is a great opportunity for children to learn about the practices of Oklahoma pioneers and how they lived off the land in sod houses. Children will be encouraged to participate in learning to soak clothes in a tub of soapy water, use a washboard, and ring clothes with a wringer washer. At other stations around the museum, they will learn the process of churning butter, demonstrations of sewing on a treadle sewing machine, and how rope is made.
After a Dutch oven cooking demonstration, light refreshments will be served from a chuck wagon.
