Will Rogers Memorial Museum will host a Night at the Movies on Friday, August 24, from 7 to 8:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. This event is held as part of the year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Will Rogers’s first movie! On Friday, guests can enjoy free popcorn and drinks while watching Steamboat Round the Bend (1935). This event is free to attend.
One hundred years ago Will signed a contract with Samuel Goldwyn to become one of the most successful and highest paid movie stars in early film history. After moving from Long Island, New York, to what he called the “Celluloid Coast,” he starred in 71 movies—50 silents and 21 “talkies”—before his untimely death in 1935.
