Event Navigation

Spend afternoons during spring break at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Events are planned every day from March 17 to 21 between 1 and 3 p.m. to keep kids learning and entertained during their school break. Each activity is based on some aspect of Will Rogers’ extraordinary life, ranging from his time as a cowboy to his love of aviation.

Thanks to a donation by Win and Kay Ingersoll, all children under 17 are admitted free during spring break. The only activity requiring registration is Friday’s Mid-Afternoon Frolic Talent Show.

On Monday, March 17, activities include blacksmithing demonstrations, quilting, and lacemaking, as well as a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s vault and Will Rogers’s tomb.

Tuesday, March 18, will feature 19th-century activities with the museum’s Hands-on Historians. Kids can participate in candle dipping, trick roping, corn grinding, butter churning, and games. Also, Buckaroo Bart will give his Will Rogers presentation every hour.

Wednesday, March 19, is aviation day, which includes flight simulators, rockets, an exhibit about Stuart Roosa, an Air Evac helicopter, along with pilot and aviation enthusiasts. A free small airplane will be given to each student. Make a paper airplane and stick around for the annual spring break paper airplane contest at 2:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 20, is all about movies. Studio B Artworks will be on hand to help students create their own movie posters. A movie will be shown in the theatre at 1:15 p.m. with popcorn!

The week will wrap up on Friday, March 21, with the Mid-Afternoon Frolic Talent Show, where kids can perform their talents on the stage of the Will Rogers Theatre and compete for prizes.
