The Oklahoma Genealogical Society and the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Center will present the Summer Sizzler Genealogy All-Stars workshop on Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5, at the Oklahoma History Center. This all-star team will feature favorite local speakers, beginning with a general session with Dr. Bob Blackburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society and the state’s leading historian. Workshop speakers include Bill Welge, Debra Spindle, Mahlon Erickson, Jim Ike, and others. Featured topics include DNA testing, migration trails, adoption records, genealogy software, and breaking through brick walls.
Workshop activities are 10 am to 4:30 pm each day and doors open at 9:30 am. The workshop will begin with a general session followed by lunch and multiple breakout sessions.
Early bird registration is available through July 24 and is $50 for both days or $40 for one day. Lunch is included in registration. After July 24 registration will be $60 for both days or $50 for one day, and lunch is included. A complete schedule and online registration is available at okgensoc.org.
The OHS Research Center and OGS will also hold a book sale August 2–5. Those attending the Summer Sizzler will have opportunities to shop for books, collectibles, photos, maps, posters, and more during the event.
