Event Navigation
To celebrate Independence Day, Pawnee Bill Ranch and Museum will host The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, from July 4 to 7, 2019. The wall can be viewed beginning at 8:30 a.m. on July 4 and will be open 24 hours through July 7 at 5 p.m. The Moving Wall has been brought to the community through the sponsorship of the Pawnee Nation, the Pawnee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7966, and the Pawnee Bill Ranch and Museum.
The Moving Wall is also on display in conjunction with the 73rd Annual Pawnee Indian Veterans Homecoming Powwow July 4–7, 2019, at Memorial Stadium in Pawnee.
The idea for The Moving Wall came from John Devitt, who was inspired to bring the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to people across the country after visiting the memorial in Washington, D.C., in 1982. The Moving Wall was first displayed in 1984 as a part of the Tyler Rose Festival in Tyler, Texas. The current wall is comprised of aluminum panels and is a half-scale replica of the original memorial.
