Event Navigation
On Saturday, September 22, at 10 am artist Warren Little give an overview of his drawings and techniques at the Sod House Museum. A special exhibit of art and photography by Warren Little is on display at the Sod House Museum during the month of September. The exhibit includes 25 pieces of art and photography.
Little discovered he had a knack for drawing people when he was a young boy growing up in Winchester, Oklahoma. Little was one of four students at the Winchester School with all boys and a male teacher. He loved to draw instead of study. Little raised a family, cattle, and wheat, then retired after 42 years of work. His love for art now continues through his drawings, paintings, and photography.
Little gave away many of his drawings, especially napkin drawings of old men in restaurants. These drawings can be found in restaurants in Kansas and Oklahoma, as well as on display in homes. One drawing found its way into an obituary. After visiting the Sod House Museum, Little did a drawing of Marshal McCully, the builder of the sod house, and presented it to the museum. Visit the museum during September to enjoy this beautiful exhibit, which will feature a variety of drawings and photography.
The Sod House Museum is open Tuesday–Saturday, 9 am–5 pm, and is located southeast of Aline on State Highway 8. For more information contact Director Renee Trindle at 580-463-2441 or sodhouse@okhistory.org.
