Abandoned Oklahoma: Red Carpet Country Through the Lens exhibit opens

From January 1 through December 20, The Chisholm will have a year-long exhibit on display entitled Abandoned Oklahoma: Red Carpet Country Through the Lens. The exhibit features a series of black-and-white photographs local to Kingfisher County in northwest Oklahoma. The images delve into the region’s rich history and chronicle the hopes and dreams of the lives of some early Oklahomans. Annual Chuck Wagon Gathering

On Saturday, March 29, come to the Chisholm for a day filled with cowboy fun. Drop in to see a variety of working chuck wagons from across the region as they prepare some of their favorite dishes for visitors to try. Live music will feature Kyle Dillingham, Peter Markes, Jim Garling, Suzanne Wooley, and Wayne Cantwell. Cast-Iron Cooking Class

The Chisholm in Kingfisher will host a Cast-Iron Cooking class on Saturday, April 26, from noon to 5 p.m. In this casual, fun class, participants will learn to care for and cook in cast-iron cookware, create a Dutch oven delight, and participate in a group meal. The class will explore historical and modern recipes while learning backyard cooking skills. This class is restricted to children 12 and older with an adult. It costs $40 per person or $60 per pair.…

Basic Barn Quilt Workshop

The Chisholm in Kingfisher will hold a Basic Barn Quilt Workshop on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Barn quilts are square-shaped boards painted to resemble a quilt block and then put on buildings. They have evolved into a rural development initiative to boost tourism in communities. Oklahoma State University Extension educator Lindy Hoel will lead the workshop.
