Basket Weaving class
The Oklahoma History Center will offer a class on basket weaving by instructor Janet Newman on Saturday, November 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This very useful “Wintergreen Stripes” basket can be made by a beginning or advanced weaver. The technique used is a simple over/under weaving and twining method, finishing with a wrapped handle. Color choices will be kelly green and evening blue. Knitting class (virtual and on-site)
The Oklahoma History Center will present a knitting class on Saturday, January 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will learn basic knitting stitches and tips to create your own masterpieces! Knitting needles and yarn will be provided. This class will be available both in a socially distanced classroom and through virtual instruction. Bonnet making workshop
On Saturday, February 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Chisholm Trail Museum will hold a bonnet making workshop. Participants will create a button crown bonnet in the style of those worn in the 1890s through the early 1900s. The class will be taught by Marna Davis, “the Domestic Lady’s Dressmaker.” The button crown bonnet’s design comes from Davis’s personal collection.
