How to Create Marbled Paper
On Saturday, March 15, Hunter’s Home will have a program that will teach guests how to marble paper using methods from the 1850s. Throughout this program, we will discuss the history, popularity, and uses of marbled paper during the 1850s. Each guest will have a one-of-a-kind piece of art to take home with them, allowing this ancient craft to continue. Basic Barn Quilt Workshop
The Chisholm in Kingfisher will hold a Basic Barn Quilt Workshop on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Barn quilts are square-shaped boards painted to resemble quilt blocks and then put on buildings. They have evolved into a rural development initiative to boost tourism in communities. Oklahoma State University Extension educator Lindy Hoel will lead the workshop. Introduction to Natural Dyeing and English Paper Piecing workshop
Hunter’s Home will hold a workshop on natural dyeing and English paper piecing on Saturday, September 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. Guests will learn how to dye fabric using methods and natural materials that were present in the 1850s. They will use American pokeweed berries and onion skin to dye the fabric fuchsia and yellow.
