Carved in Stone: Gravestone Symbols and their Meanings workshop
Join us at The Chisholm for our Carved In Stone workshop and explore the meaning and history of gravestone symbols across time. Headstones often feature more than just names and dates. The language of symbols is international and surrounds us all the time. Symbols embellished on these markers can teach us about social memberships, occupations, hobbies, beliefs, and more. The annual Doaksville Candlelight Tour will be held on Friday, October 11, and Saturday, October 12, at the Doaksville Archaeological Site in Fort Towson, OK. Visit the Pawnee Bill Ranch and Museum for Pawnee Bill Ghost Stories Tours on Saturday, October 26, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Guides will lead guests on outdoor tours around the ranch site and its buildings, the big barn, log cabin, blacksmith shop, and the mansion.
