"Back: The first mission at Good Land [sic] , built without lumber of hewn timber and boards, nicely plastered, by Rev. A. P. Starks in 1845. He was the "gentle missionary" to the Indians. The drink from the well he dug, the two trees he planted give us shade, our orphans play in this green mural grass he set out, and our new building stands on the hill this one had. This building fell decayed too much, in April 1907 he died. "The Old Manse."
