Many of the crops grown at the Hunter's Home come from heirloom seeds
sourced from various local origins, including the Cherokee Nation's seed bank. Heirloom seeds are those saved from plants of a particular region over several generations. These seeds create crops that have adapted to the weather, altitude, and soil conditions of a particular area. Using seeds from the seed bank of the Cherokee Nation and consistent seed saving from plants on the Hunter's Home property both contribute to the creation of a new generation of crops acclimated to the farm itself.
