Alvy Lee Gaither
Submitted by Melody Gaither Eddy
AL Gaither was born near Perkins Oklahoma on January 12, 1922. He was the only child of Enoch and Rebecca Gaither, a widow and widower with four children each, who married in 1918 and moved by covered wagon to Oklahoma from Missouri.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, AL attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating with a degree in pharmacy. He was part owner of Gentry Drug Store in Claremore, Oklahoma, before moving to Florida.
In 1943 he married Faith Emick from Racine, Wisconsin. Their three daughters were born in Oklahoma: Melody in Ponca City, Cheri in Weatherford and Carol in Claremore.
Alvy Lee (AL), died in 1977. He was proud to be an Oklahoman and I honor his memory with this brick.
