In 1900, Thomas married Daisy Williams. They lived and are buried in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Their son, Douglas Fairbanks Dollarhide, inspired by his elder brother, Emmitt, and sister, Lenora, became the "first elected African American mayor west of the Mississippi" for the city of Compton, California, in 1969.
