Joe W. Curtis was born in 1898 in Sallisaw, Indian Territory, and died 20 Aug 1980 in Pauls Valley. He was a graduate of OU and a lawyer with the firm of Blanton & Andrews. He married Lois Blanton in 1924 and they had two daughters. He was a WWI veteran and officer in the American Legion. He was active in the Masonic Order and attained the 32nd degree. He was a member of the Indian Hall of Fame and on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Historical Society. Joe also became a successful businessman and banker.
