E. W. Jackson (1877-1958) was born in Plain Dealind, LA. He was the son of a slave, Ran Jackson (1848-1925), a very prosperous farmer who had to leave Louisiana by night due to racial tension. He chose to come to Oklahoma during the "Land Rush" of 1907. He and his wife, Maggie, raised ten children and lived for many years in the city of Red Bird, OK, in Wagoner County.
