Naomi Wilson Springer Barr Gore was one of the very few women to stake a claim in the "Run of 1889". She lived on Skeleton Creek, Kingfisher Co. She had three sons who were cow punchers, mainly in the Cherokee Strip. Her life spanned a remarkable period of American History, beginning in the days of the covered wagon and ending in the age of manned aerial flight. She was a pioneer of four states--Indiana, Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma. She witnessed the unbroken expanse of the prairie, encountered Native Americans on their original lands, was a courageous and resourceful settler, an "Oklahoma 89er" and lived to see the "close of the frontier". She died at the age of 81 in 1922 and is interred in the Hennessey Cemetery.
