Link Barr
Submitted by Jim Barr
Robert Lincoln "Link" Barr was born just after the end of the Civil War and lived the life of a ruggedly-independent cowboy/cowpuncher on the western prairies. His family homesteaded in KS in 1884. In 1889 he sold his KS land and became a "sooner." From 1885 to 1893 (when he ran for land in the Cherokee Strip) he worked in the Strip. In 1899 he sold his Strip land and bought land in Dover. He married a local girl and had seven children. In 1921 he was a founding member of the Cherokee Strip Cowpunchers Assn. He died in 1925.
